书评家们日前为美国国家图书奖批评家奖列出了一份最后的入围名单。小说奖部分，玛丽琳·罗宾逊（Marilynne Robinson）的《家》（Home）、罗伯托·卜拉诺（Roberto Bolaño）的《2666》（2666）、以及格伦·泰勒（ M. Glenn Taylor）的处女作《特兰奇默·塔加特的歌谣》（The Ballad of Trenchmouth Taggart）都毫无悬念地进入了小说奖最后的决选名单。此外，波斯尼亚裔美国作家阿列克桑达·荷蒙（Aleksandar Hemon）的小说《拉扎卢斯计划》（The Lazarus Project）和伊丽莎白·斯特劳特（Elizabeth Strout）的《奥利芙·吉特里奇》（Olive Kitteridge）也进入了这份小说奖的决选名单。
而令人感到惊讶的是，此前一直呼声很高的像詹姆斯·伍德（James Wood）的《小说的功能》（How Fiction Works）以及托尼·莫里森（Toni Morrison）的《仁慈》（A Mercy），还有约瑟夫·奥尼尔（Joseph O’Neill）的《尼德兰》（Netherland）则都没有出现在最后的决选名单中。
这次在公布进入最后评选的提名名单的同时，美国批评家协会也同时颁发了两个荣誉奖：给国际笔友会美国总部颁发了终身成就奖；给《华盛顿邮报》的书评家荣·查尔斯（Ron Charles）颁发了一份特别批评奖。
